This includes staff in emergency response, emergency medical services, intensive care, and intensive care units, such as doctors, nurses, paramedics, and others who require a PALS course card for work or other requirements.

This instructor-led training course uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to anchor important concepts of a systematic approach to assessing the state of Pediatrics, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics.

This guide is intended for use by a single student and provides information needed before, during, and after classes.

Please note: since this tool is electronic, a separate additional tool, the pals digital reference card, is automatically included when purchasing an e-book. This is the electronic equivalent of a printed PALS reference card. The pals preparation checklist card will be available on the pals website for students and at CPRverify.org.

After successfully completing this course, students will be able to:

Perform high quality CPR for children CPR and CPR for children as recommended by AHABLES
Distinguish between patients who require immediate intervention or do not need it
Recognize cardiac arrest early and start CPR within 10 seconds
Apply team dynamics
Distinguish between respiratory failure and insufficiency
Perform early interventions for respiratory failure and failure
Distinguish between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock
To implement early intervention for treatment of shock
Distinguish between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias
Describe the clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias
Implementing management after cardiac arrest
